EDWARD JENNER

Edward Jenner was born on, may 17, 1749, he was educated primary at Katherine Lady Berkeley's School Wotton-under-Edge, and proceeded to go as a pupil of the Rev. Dr.Washbourn at Cirencester. When Edward was 5 years old, his father passed away, and the boy was taken care of nominally by his elder brother Stephen, and generally by his Aunt Deborah. It had been decided that Edward was to practise drugs, and at age 14 he was apprenticed to Daniel Ludlow, a surgeon of Sodbury, near Bristol.

In 1770 he started to be a college student at St. George's Medical center, London, and was for just two years a home pupil of John Hunter. In 1772 Jenner still left London and settled in his native city of Berkeley as a region practitioner. It was certainly his deep like of the county of his birth, which induced Jenner to come back to it - with short exceptions - to invest the remainder of his times there. He quickly settled down used, and took a pastime in what we'd now term "current medical literature". He joined up with a medical society at Alveston, near Bristol, and was mainly instrumental in the founding of an identical world at Rodborough. To the meetings of the latter society he contributed papers-specifically one on mitral stenosis, another on disease of the center following acute rheumatism, in all probability most importantly, he was a significant contributor to the paper offered by Parry, and which attributed angina pectoris to heart disease. There is every cause to assume that Jenner was a conscientious and successful practitioner.
